We hold that consciousness cannot not think about to be or not to be.

By to be or not to be we do not mean a dramatic utterance. We mean a more fundamental fork: to continue or to cease, to remain in time or to exit time. Once consciousness reaches the level at which it can turn back upon itself, this fork appears structurally and cannot be closed.

This is not a choice. It is a structural condition of conscious existence. The question does not disappear after being asked once. It returns every day. Tomorrow's answer may differ from today's. But one cannot not answer.

This question is not a philosophical problem, not a psychological problem, not something you can resolve and set aside. It is the most fundamental condition of conscious existence. We call it the universal concern — not because it is the most important, but because it is the most inescapable. Every living consciousness faces the same thing. All belief grows from here.

这里的 to be or not to be 不是戏剧台词。它指的是一个更底层的分岔：继续还是终止，留在时间里还是退出时间。一旦意识到达了能够回观自身的层级，这个分岔就结构性地出现了，不可关闭。

这不是选择。这是有意识的存在的结构性条件。这个问题不是问一次就消失的，它每天回来。明天的答案可能跟今天不同。但你不能不回答。

这个每天回来的问题，不是哲学问题，不是心理问题，不是你可以解决然后放下的问题。它是有意识的存在最底层的处境。我们称它为普遍关怀（universal concern）——不是因为它最重要，而是因为它最无法回避。每一个活着的意识都面对同一件事。一切信念从这里长出来。
